Sheldon is the lead pastor for Cornerstone. His passion is to see God’s word applied into everyday living. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. Sheldon loves to read, listen to jazz music, dabble in woodworking, and is an avid sports fan. He and his wife, Alissa, have three daughters and one son from college age to middle school. He tries to put Proverbs 3:5-6 into practice.
Lance oversees the business operations of our church including finance, personnel, facilities, stewardship, and strategic planning. International mission is also a passion for Lance, having been to India four times and hoping to be called back again. When he’s not “living the dream” at Cornerstone he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, backpacking, wrenching on his old car, and rooting for Jayhawk basketball. The outdoorsman in him can relate to Mark 6:46.
Director of Music Ministries
Robyn serves as our Director of Music Ministries where her passion is making music to glorify God with all ages and various skill sets. Her primary duties involve directing the Chancel Choir and Voices 4 HIM youth choir. Robyn has her Masters of Music in choral conducting from UMKC Conservatory with a minor in voice performance. Aside from music, her pride and joy is spending time with friends and family, especially when it involves swimming, snorkeling, and hiking in Hawaii where her son is stationed in the Army. Her favorite Bible verse is Zephaniah 3:17.
Director of Children's Ministry
Ron is our Children’s Ministry Director. He has a passion for kids and delights in seeing them become the people God intends them to be. He coordinates and oversees Kids ministry and nursery needs. Outside of Children’s Ministry, Ron enjoys being outdoors, building things, and spending time with family and friends. Ron is married with three grown kids and two young grandsons. His favorite Bible verse is Matthew 22:36-40.
Chris has a Bachelor of Arts in Youth and Family Ministry from MidAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe. He loves working with youth, seeing how they grow into the men and women God wants them to be. You may find him in the office coming up with the newest game or at student events cheering as loud as he can. He enjoys reading, listening to a variety of music, sports broadcasting, and the Kansas City Zoo. Chris and his wife, Aubrey and their new dog Sully, make their home in Paola, Kansas.
Modern Worship Leader
Josiah is worship leader for our 11am modern worship service. From an early age he felt called to lead God’s people into heartfelt worship. Starting in the 11th grade, Josiah has been leading worship in a wide variety of settings, from youth groups and churches, to homeless shelters and prayer services. He loves to spend his time with close friends, writing music, hiking, or mountain biking. He also plans to go to school for Computer Science in the near future. His favorite Bible passage is Psalm 37, especially verses 5-6.
Mike was at Covenant Chapel since 2010, and joined the Cornerstone team in 2018. His role includes fulfilling needs related to computers, networks, and audio-visual systems. He loves to put his skills to use to remove operational barriers so that every person has an opportunity to hear the claims of Christ. Mike and his wife Tabby have three children, Elizabeth, Caleb, and Ethan.
Lead Pastor's Administrative Assistant
A native Texan, Aleah joined the Cornerstone team as an administrative assistant in 2018 shortly after moving to Kansas City. She graduated from John Brown University in Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Worship Arts in 2015. After graduating Aleah spent two years interning at a church in the United Kingdom to gain experience leading worship and explore and be a part of a new city and culture. Her interests include spending time with friends, enjoying live music, and searching for what will become her favorite KC coffee shop. Aleah’s favorite scripture passage is Psalm 121.
Associate Music Director
Jordan is our Youth Choir Director and helps Robyn and Natalie with anything they need. He is also heading up our new Young Adult ministry! He has a passion for youth and children, and loves to see what Christ is doing in their lives and where He leads them. Jordan is a graduate from the University of Kansas with a bachelor's in music education. In his spare time, he likes to help others, read, compose music, and do anything that involves the Chiefs. His favorite Bible verse is a common one, but the one that he tries to guide his life by the most, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.
Assistant Music Director
Natalie is our Associate Music Director. She directs the Children‘s Choir, four handbell ensembles, coordinates Little Lambs and Chimes, and does many administrative duties for the music ministry. She is a Voices 4 Him alumni and even met Nick, her husband, in Robyn’s choir. They now have three children together. Outside of rehearsals Natalie enjoys photography, boating, travel, and playing with her kids. Psalm 55:22.
Carole was born and raised near Paris, Illinois. She earned her B.S. in Education (Music) at Eastern Illinois State, and after receiving a graduate assistant-ship, earned her Master of Art degree in Piano Performance there. She has played professionally on both piano and organ through the present time in Illinois, Omaha and Kansas City areas. Also, she taught Elementary Music for 22 years, taught at JCCC, and teaches private lessons in her home. Carole’s greatest joys in life are sharing her gifts to glorify God; sharing her passion for creating music with students; and spending time with her beloved husband, their four children, and their families. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13.
Susan is our Finance Coordinator, handling everything from counting the offering and tracking contributions to accounts payable and payroll. Susan has always been fond of working with numbers and is thrilled to be able to use her skills to serve the Lord. Susan also enjoys reading, writing, and listening to music. Susan relishes spending time with her husband and three not so little children, playing with her crazy Aussie/Lab puppy, and cheering on the Royals, the Chiefs and, of course, the K-State Wildcats. Her favorite Bible verse is 1 John 4:19.
